Several factors contribute to the development of soft tissue calcification.
- Mineral imbalance: Soft tissue calcification is more likely to strike those who do not have the proper ratio of minerals in their bodies.
- Acidic/alkaline imbalance: Eating an acidic diet (one that emphasizes acid-producing foods such as red meat, soft drinks, coffee, alcohol, fats, cereals and sugar) can trigger the development of calcium crystals.
- Crystal inhibitor/promoter imbalance. Certain substances prevent calcium crystals from developing, while others promote them. If the balance between inhibitors and promoters gets thrown off, soft tissue calcification is more likely to occur.
